12 Online Dating Tips From Women Who Met Their Spouses There

You may end up actually dating this guy, so keep it honest. It won’t bring anything special to the date. If you’re upfront and honest right from the beginning, you already form a solid foundation regardless of how it ends. I usually would say, who cares, just go with your feelings, but it’s actually important to not give a guy everything he wants so soon. I know he’s cute and you want to have sex with him, but take it slow.

Now that we’re in the age of online dating, where singles are using dating apps or sliding into someone’s DMs to express their interest, it seems pretty antiquated to wait on someone to ask you for your number. Maybe the guy doesn’t call you, maybe he is late for the date. But listen, there are some dating rules for women you need to remember so you keep your own personal standards high and don’t let them dictate where the date goes. Dating is one of my favorite things, yet I also hate it with a passion.

Better yet, he will feel more at ease to be himself…and that’s when the sparks fly. The New York Post says it’s time to toss out the rules that traditionally defined how women and men date. Rules regarding which person should do the pursuing and who initiates the first kiss are outdated and unrealistic with today’s culture. The only old-fashioned gender rule that still holds true, says the Post, is that men should still pay for the first date. That’s simply because men still make more money than women on average, so men picking up the tab on the first date is more practical.

The only things that should better be texted are the times and places of your dates. A text message will be convenient because neither of you will forget the details of your arrangement. Ask her for a dance and pay attention to the way her body reacts to yours. If you do have mutual chemistry, both of you will feel it.

In fact, don’t put out on the second, third or fourth dates either – unless your dates are only once a month with copious amounts of deep conversations in between. Wait a minute that sounds like a long distance relationship. There is a whole other set of rules for that.

Chances are, the other person will be flattered. And if the other person doesn’t prefer it that way, they can tell you and there is a possibility that it may not be a match. There are many “shoulds” and “shouldn’ts” when it comes to dating—rules that continue to exist despite their irrelevance. Many of these rules are based on outdated social norms and traditional gender roles.

My progress should be dictated by how it’s going with that particular person, the milestones we set for ourselves, and the discussions we have between the two of us alone for what we want or are looking for. Too many women make the mistake of either waiting for the guy to impress them or they try so hard to suck up to the guy it creates an awkward feeling in the conversation. What’s lacking in both situations is the woman’s sense of deep inner confidence. This projection of a healthy self-image will immediately impress your date.

You could even scope the scene at your favorite places, which increases your odds of finding someone with shared interests. So if you love yoga, see if you find anyone in the class attractive and talk to them afterward. At the end of the day, it didn’t matter what those women did, or what they said, or how crazy they were or OCD they acted. True feelings happened anyway; and when true feelings hit you, dating rules go out the window. When it comes to people you have real feelings for, or true interest in, dating rules don’t apply anyway.
